Announcing…A New Chapter
Too many churches shut down every day across North America and that lot has fallen to our good friends at St. Timothy United Methodist Church.
After many moves and adjustments and highs and lows the Memphis Church, known locally as Community of Faith (GCI), is relocating again.
The congregation has made many new friends while sharing facilities with St. Timothy United Methodist Church for almost nine years.
Our new home will be with the good folks at the Bartlett (TN) Senior Citizens Center, a venue that has hosted many church groups over the years and will, we feel, give us a fresh start in a hall more suited to our size, our age group. and our desire to connect with the good things being done in this thriving community northeast of Memphis.
Our meeting place is located at 5727 Woodlawn directly across from the Bartlett High School in a remodeled facility just north of Stage Road, which, as the name indicates, was part of the historic stage route connecting Nashville, Tennessee’s capital, with Memphis, whose city center is mentioned in more than 1000 songs.
Bartlett is a tidy, progressive, industrious city of 59,000 whose civic pride is fed by superb recreational and cultural facilities. It features well-respected sports teams and a Performing Arts Center that has hosted talent such as Art Garfunkel, Judy Collins and John Davidson.
We’re looking forward to moving in to our new “digs” in Room 2A with its own podium, flat screen TV, comfortable chairs and coffee service.
Drop by and see us on Sundays at 10:30 AM as we open a new chapter for the 58 year old Memphis GCI (Grace Communion International). We are hoping to add some uplifting diversity to Bartlett’s young population (average age 37) and thereby advance the Kingdom of God and build up the body of Christ in our own small way.
